Jim Fatz, PhD

Diplomate in Advanced Clinical Mental Health Counseling Practice / National Certified Counselor /

Clinical Mental Health Specialist in Trauma

Jim promotes a very holistic approach to wellness and behavioral health issues.  He's had a wide variety of life experiences, education, and training; focused on themes of making the most out of life, coping with adversity, on-going improvement, and comprehensive wellness. He continues to seek education and certification in a wide variety of disciplines and theories in order to create a strong blend of evidenced based methods and practice to help people address their personal issues and overcome challenges. Life should be enjoyable!

Jim has over 40 years experience in the field of forensic psychology, wellness, and counseling. He has previously been the Director of several in-patient prison / jail addictions programs and served as a primary mental health provider in a maximum security prison mental health unit. Notable military and civilian employment experiences have included roles as hostage negotiator, SWAT Commander, crisis intervention specialist, domestic violence and sex offender therapist, and wellness center Director. Recently, Jim has worked as a contracted Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) embedded with the Army 7th Special Forces Group, was the Director of the Fleet & Family Support Center which serviced the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (TopGun) school, and currently is affiliated with the US Army Reserve as a Suicide Prevention Program Manager.

There isn't much Jim hasn't seen or encountered. He maintains an accepting, client-centered, non-judgmental approach toward his clients and emphasizes client confidentiality and privacy.  Jim is now leveraging telehealth technology to provide access to a broader clientele than his Florida or Illinois "brick & mortar" private practice has previously allowed.
